Eight FRU personnel injured after bus rams into dividing wall at Sentul toll plaza

NILAI: Eight Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel were injured when their bus rammed into a dividing wall at the Sentul toll plaza heading south on the Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) yesterday evening.

Nilai District police chief, Abdul Malik Hasim, said the incident occurred around 5.25 pm when the bus, carrying 16 FRU members, was en route from Cheras to Seremban.

"A lorry was believed to have abruptly changed lanes from the right to the left in front of the police bus.

"The bus driver tried to avoid colliding with the lorry. However, in doing so, the bus was believed to have skidded and hit the dividing wall of the toll plaza," he said today.

He said, as a result of the accident, eight bus passengers suffered minor injuries.

"They were taken to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital Seremban (HTJS) here for further treatment.

"The other eight passengers, including the bus driver, did not suffer any injuries," he said.

The case is classified under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving, and further investigations are ongoing.
