A VISITOR to a food court in Subang Jaya, Selangor, has expressed disgust at the cleanliness of its stalls and surrounding areas.
In a complaint to Actionline, the visitor, who wished to be identified only as Thang, claimed that the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) didn’t properly maintain the area.
“The stalls are filthy. There are flies, rats and cockroaches on the floor and crows are rummaging through rubbish bags.
“When the stalls close at night, the food operators throw the food, used oil and trash down the drain.
“Sometimes, they throw the waste on the pavement.”
Thang, who lives nearby,
said the place had seen better days.
“I have a few houses there and have been trying to sell them.
“Potential buyers who visit my houses would get turned off by the condition of the area.”

MPSJ, after checking on the complaint, said the cleanliness of the food court was at a satisfactory level.
MPSJ corporate and strategic management deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said stall tenants were following the terms laid out by the council.
“The food court is in good condition and there’s no rubbish thrown around the area.
“The garbage is collected and the area is swept daily, while the drain is cleaned twice a month.”
He said the council monitored the area to ensure the cleanliness was maintained.
