Visitors to Sabah’s Likas Bay recreational park are anxious about their safety in the area after two women were molested and robbed by three people while out jogging early in the morning.
Bhil Philip, 36, said it was a shame that people were afraid to go to the park, which had good facilities.
“The park has great scenery and is well-maintained, but I have stopped going after the recent crime.”
Another jogger, Stephen Yong, 27, said he felt the park was also dangerous for men.
“Unless something can reduce the chances of crime in the area, it is better for me not to endanger my life by visiting the park.”

Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said three people were arrested in connection to the assault and robbery.
“Police and Kota Kinabalu City Hall enforcement officers are collaborating to patrol the park around the clock.”
KK City Hall public relations and complaints department director Syron A. Tunggolou said the authorities would provide five bicycles for those patrolling the park.
The patrols will be conducted in three shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.
“The closed-circuit television cameras will be improved and City Hall may add more streetlights at the park.”
