Sewage oozing out of damaged manhole

A damaged manhole in Jalan Astaka U8/88, Section U8 in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, has been causing sewage to overflow.

Besides the discomfort to people nearby, the manhole also posed a risk to road users, especially motorcyclists.

Arivalagan, a 31-year-old security guard at a factory, said the problem had been occurring since early this year, but no action had been taken.

“Besides the stench, the road is also dirty and slippery due to the sewage.

“Most road users do not notice that the manhole is damaged, especially at night.

“This is dangerous to their safety,” he said.

Arivalagan said some Good Samaritans recently put branches over the manhole to warn road users.
