Pothole poses danger to motorists

A pothole in the centre of Persiaran Raja Muda in Section 6, Shah Alam, is likely to cause a road accident if it is not repaired by the authorities soon.

Student Muhammad Adeeb Mohd Ali Bahari, 19, said the pothole could cause serious damage to vehicles, adding that motorists could also lose control of their machines.

“I almost met with an accident when my motorcycle hit the pothole recently. It caused a tyre to burst.

“I was lucky as I managed to control my machine. If not, I would have fallen on the road and been hit by oncoming vehicles.”

The Universiti Teknologi Mara student said motorists who plied the stretch might not be able to notice the pothole until it was too late.

“It is difficult to see the pothole at night because the streetlights in the area here are blocked by trees.”

Adeeb hoped the authorities would take quick action as the pothole had been there for several months.

ACTIONLINE:

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said it had received complaints on the pothole and that it was taking steps to rectify the problem.

MBSA corporate communications and public relations head Shahrin Ahmad said the council had relayed the information to its engineering department for action.

He said the road would be repaired soon to ensure the safety of road users.
