Can't beat around this bush in PJ

OVERGROWN bushes and untrimmed trees opposite houses in Jalan SS 2/2 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, are not only an eyesore, but also pose a safety concern.

Resident Muhammad Asari Razalli said the undergrowth had not been cleared by the Petaling Jaya City Council for a few years.

“We have seen snakes and other reptiles coming out of the bushes.”

Asari said he had lodged reports with the council, but no action had been taken.

ACTIONLINE:

A Petaling Jaya City Council spokesman said the council would send a Health Services and Environment team and Solid Waste Department officers to the area.

“They will monitor the area before cleaning up the stretch.

“It will be done as early as tomorrow (Wednesday).

“We will also conduct fogging and do the necessary.”

He advised residents not to garden or plant vegetables on vacant land.

“Residents can plant trees or vegetables on that land, but it becomes overgrown if it’s not well maintained.”
