Motorists to enjoy toll discounts on Deepavali

KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists using the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), the Kemuning-Shah Alam Expressway (LKSA) and the Kajang SILK Highway (SILK) will enjoy a 10 per cent toll discount in conjunction with Deepavali.

Group chief executive officer of Prolintas Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah said the toll discount would begin from 6am on Oct 18 until 6am on Oct 19 for class 1 vehicles only.

“The discount will hopefully reduce the expenses borne by motorists, especially those celebrating Deepavali,” he said.

More than 300,000 motorists of Prolintas highway are expected to enjoy the benefit, he said.

Meanwhile, motorists are advised that the top-up facility at toll plazas of PLUS highways will cease from Oct 17 to 19 in conjunction with the Deepavali festival.

PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said the temporary discontinuation of the facility was to reduce congestion at the toll plazas in view of the increased traffic volume during the period.

However, he said the top-up lanes at the Bukit Kayu Hitam and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar toll plazas would operate as normal.

“Users of PLUS highways are advised to ensure their cards have sufficient balance before entering the highways.

“They can top up their cards at 9,200 other locations, including ATM machines, 24-hour convenience outlets and also at petrol stations at all PLUS R&R facilities,” he said here yesterday.

He said the move, which was implemented during major celebrations earlier, had helped reduce congestion at toll plazas.
