Lack of warning signs near a school in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town are worrying parents when dropping their children for classes.
There are two schools — SJKC Kwang Hwa and SRJKC Shih Chung Cawangan — with almost 2,000 students.
Most parents would drop their children near the schools, including those who would stop across the road.
Zebra-crossing markings in the area had also faded, claimed the parents, who are worried about their children’s safety.
Penang Gerakan vice-president Oh Tong Keong said he had received eight reports from parents, who wanted more warning signs.
“There are inconsiderate motorists who drive fast in the area.
“We need clear warning signs there,” he said.

Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Infrastructure and Traffic Committee alternate chairman Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik said the road was under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department.
He said PWD would install road signs in the opposite road.
“MBPP will also repaint the zebra crossing. Our priority is the safety of pedestrians, especially the students.”
