Need for tree maintenance

A FRUSTATED resident fears an overgrown tree at Jalan Liku 8/1, Section 8 in Shah Alam will result in someone getting hurt.

Kamaruddin said the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) should trim the branches, or risk endangering motorists and parked vehicles should the tree be uprooted.

“Its branches have reached the electric cables and I am afraid that if MBSA fails to take immediate action, it could pose a threat to road users and pedestrians. It will only be a matter of time before the tree falls,” he said.

Kamaruddin added that the overhanging branches had also obscured the road signs.

ACTIONLINE: An MBSA spokesman said its Landscape Department would start trimming the tree this month.

“Officers from the department will trim the tree located in Section 8, Shah Alam.”

He said the public could inform the council about fallen trees, flooding and landslides by calling MBSA’s 24-hour hotline service at 03-55105811.
