Stall operators at Ipoh's Majestic Walk upset over slow pace of business

MOST traders at Majestic Walk in Ipoh had to close down their stalls as the spot has failed to attract customers since its launch in November.

They said they needed to find a more conducive site to continue operating.

Launched to promote the state’s tourism products, Majestic Walk at Ipoh’s Railway Station provides 11 stalls.

Only two are in business.

A stall helper, who wished to be known only as Teow, said the ambience at the site was too gloomy to attract customers.

“Besides that, the renovation at Majestic Hotel has yet to start. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the area.

“If the hotel project can be completed fast, our business might do better as more people are expected to come.”

Among the products at the site are Yee Hup, Pagoda, Wei Jiang, CB Biscuit and Kong Xi White Coffee.

The project was started by Kelab Bakti Gunung Kledang with the cooperation of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd.
