Upset by parking bay hoggers

MOTORISTS in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, are peeved by parking bay hoggers.

They claim the culprits often place dustbins, chairs and plastic containers, among other items, to reserve the spot for their customers.

Office executive Mohd Farid Osman said finding a parking space in Sentul was made harder by those who hog parking bays illegally.

“I remove the obstacle placed there, and park anyway. Those who hog parking space think they are being clever.

“They should realise their act is against the law,” he said.

Hawker Chew Soon Heng is equally disgusted by the lack of consideration.

“Others are forced to drive around the area a few times in the hope of finding a parking space,” said Chew.

ACTIONLINE:

A Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) spokesman said legally reserved parking bays would have red lines painted to demarcate the lot.

YWP has been managing the city’s parking on behalf of Kuala Lumpur City Hall since 2016.

“Bays which are not legally reserved are painted with yellow or white lines.

“No one has the legal right to commandeer such parking spaces,” he said.

He warned that illegal parking bay hoggers would be fined.

Anyone concerned about or aware of such an obstruction can report the matter to ispaaadbkl.dbkl.gov.my or call 1800-88-3255.
