Pos Malaysia, Lazada to develop e-commerce regional distribution centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia is collaborating with Lazada (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd on the development of an e-commerce regional distribution centre in Sepang.

The memorandum of collaboration was signed by Pos Malaysia's group CEO Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh and Hans-Peter Ressel, Lazada Malaysia's CEO.

"The e-commerce RDC is a significant part of Pos Malaysia's journey into the region.

"It is an affirmation of our long-standing strategy to be an end-to-end Integrated logistics provider which will be a part of our growth trajectory in the e-commerce segment," remarked Mohd Shukrie at the event.

The e-commerce RDC is a one-stop centre by providing value-added services such as air-sea-land transportation solutions, international transhipment, postal and courier services and warehousing facilities.

Phase one of the collaboration of the Lazada is expected to be completed in August and the second phase by the end of the year.

A total 34 million items will be placed in the warehouse in 2018 and the number will be doubled in 2019, he said.

It has a total capacity of 182,000 per year.
