May 25: Ringgit rebounds, opens higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit rebounded to open slightly higher against the US dollar today on mild buying activities, dealers said.

At 9.02 am, the local unit was quoted at 4.2760/2810 against Wednesday's 4.2910/2950.

A dealer said the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged also lifted the local note.

Against other major currencies, the ringgit was traded mostly higher. It rose against the Singapore dollar to 3.0883/0930 from 3.0891/0926 on Wednesday, increased against the British pound to 5.5485/5555 from 5.5706/5775 yesterday, and appreciated against the Yen to 3.8322/8371 from 3.8371/8417 on Wednesday. However, it fell against the Euro to 4.8007/8067 from 4.7952/8014 yesterday. – BERNAMA
