EWI's sales breach RM1 billion in first half of this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Eco World International Bhd (EWI) has achieved sales of RM1.05 billion during the first half of financial year 2017.

As at May 31, total sales secured amounted to RM1.13 billion, bringing total cumulative sales from its existing four projects to RM6.73 billion.

EWI has set a sales target of RM2.5 billion for FY2017.

President and chief executive officer Datuk Teow Leong Seng attributed this to EWI’s well-balanced buyer profile and the fundamental attractiveness of its various projects in the United Kingdom and Australia.

“We are very fortunate to have cultivated a strong following for all our projects with a good mix of customers comprising both international and home country buyers.

"This is a key advantage we will deploy going forward to achieve our ambitions of becoming a significant global property player.”

For its three projects in London, EWI’s buyer profile is 54 per cent UK-based with the balance 46 per cent coming from Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, the Middle East and other countries.

In Sydney, the buyer mix is similarly well balanced with 48 per cent from Australia and the balance 52 per cent mainly from Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore.

He added that interest in the group’s UK projects remain healthy bolstered by good construction progress on site, unique selling points of each project and positive developments in the surrounding areas.

In a seprate announcement, Eco World Development Group Bhd (EWDG) said its total sales stood at RM1.7 billion as at May 31 for its year ending October 31 2017.

Its six projects in the Klang Valley contributed RM1.329 billion while its seven projects in Iskandar Malaysia contributed RM331 million with RM45 million contributed by the remaining two projects in Penang.

EWDG president and CEO Datuk Chang Khim Wah said its projects had been enjoying positive momentum especially the three large-scale developments in the Klang Valley that were launched at the end of the last financial year. They were Eco Ardence, Eco Grandeur and Bukit Bintang City Centre.

“Based on sales secured to date and the plans which are underway for the next two quarters, we are confident that the group is well-positioned to achieve our sales target of RM4 billion sales in Malaysia for FY 2017,” said Chang.
