Pos Malaysia posts RM37m Q1 net profit

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd has registered a net profit of RM37.9 million in the first quarter ended June 30, 2017, up 19 per cent from RM31.8 million in the same period a year ago.

Its revenue of RM611.6 in the quarter is 47 per cent higher than RM415.9 million in the corresponding period a year ago.

Group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said the growth in revenue was largely driven by the inclusion of revenues from the Pos Aviation Group (formerly KL Airport Services Group) that was completed in September 2016.

“We are confident that our value proposition as a fully-integrated e-commerce logistics player will continue to become more valuable as e-commerce continues its growth trajectory in Malaysia and the region going forward,” he said.

Its courier business also registered positive growth as a result of higher volume of courier items delivered.

“As such, we are very focused on providing superior customer experience by enhancing our delivery infrastructure, namely our automated sorting facilities and also by leveraging on new technology for end-to-end tracking solutions and door-step payment options.

“We are confident that these initiatives will enable the Pos Malaysia Group to achieve its aspirations of becoming the premier end-to-end e-commerce logistics and fulfilment services provide in Malaysia,” said Shukrie.
