Eco World's Liew conferred with honorary doctorate in enterpreneurship

NILAI: Eco World Development Group Bhd chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin was conferred with an honorary doctorate of entrepreneurship from INTI International University for his exemplary business leadership in the property development business in Malaysia and internationally,

This is the first doctorate for Liew, who is one of Malaysia’s prominent property captains and for promoting nationalism through the “AnakAnakMalaysia” campaign and his commitment towards Eco World Foundation’s students aid programme to help needy students.

He was awarded the doctorate by INTI Chancellor Tan Sri Arshad Ayub during the university’s November 2017 convocation ceremony for more than 1,070 graduates over three days.

Arshad said Liew’s contributions to the nation had been remarkable and as an institution that valued the spirit of resilience and courage, the university endeavoured to recognise individuals such as Liew.

"Liew’s conferment truly illustrates his service in the property development landscape, his commitment to the growth of the nation, both economically and socially, and his continuous belief in excellence, team spirit and commitment to drive community enrichment.”

In his acceptance speech, Liew, who has led two of the nation’s premier development companies over the last 26 years, and was instrumental in securing the coveted Battersea Power Station regeneration project in the United Kingdom in 2012, expressed his gratitude for the award.

"The value of education cannot be stressed enough, particularly in today’s increasingly borderless world.

“Education has the ability to transform lives, build communities and uplift nations, and those who have the opportunity to receive an education must recognise their role in driving positive change, as many of Malaysia’s forefathers did when the country gained its independence.

“As graduates of the 21st century, it is important that young professionals be driven by goals and a vision of success, but even more so that they uphold the values of humility, integrity and unity in whatever they pursue.

“The true measure of success is what an individual gives back to society through intellect, effort and a passion to make a difference not only in his or her own life, but to everyone else,” said Liew.
