KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) today launched its enhanced Dynamic Diesel Euro 5 with Pro-Drive, promising a smoother drive and superior fuel economy.
PDB’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, said the enhanced almost sulphur-free diesel was a combination of reformulated higher quality base diesel from the Petronas refinery.
“The Pro-Drive technology has been proven to remove deposits and protect vehicle injectors, effectively cleaning the engine and ensuring optimum engine efficiency,” he told reporters at the launch here today.
He said compared to other diesel fuels in the market, test results showed that the Petronas Dynamic Diesel Euro 5 with Pro-Drive recorded higher cetane numbers, which helped improve combustion, resulting in smooth drivability, cleaner emission and lower noise, .
Mohd Ibrahimnuddin said the Pro-Drive technology was the result of Petronas’ partnership with Iveco, an Italian-based industrial vehicle manufacturing company, to formulate a winning formula for its Dakar Rally team.
He said the rally was renowned as the world’s toughest and most demanding off-road endurance race, and the team’s victory in the 2016 edition was a testament to its fuel technology.
“The Dakar Rally provided us with a platform to study the requirements of the latest high performance common-rail direct injection diesel-powered vehicles and continuously improve our product.
“Our new enhanced diesel reflects our commitment to continuous improvement to benefit our customers,” he said.
He projected diesel sales volumes would increase by 10 per cent following the launch of the new variant.
The Petronas Dynamic Diesel Euro 5 with Pro-Drive is currently available at 58 selected Petronas stations and will be sold at 115 stations by next year.
Moving forward, Mohd Ibrahimnuddin said, PDB also planned to use the Pro-Drive technology in its Primax fuel soon.
