Ex-Agrobank CEO Wan Mohd Fadzmi gets Islamic banking award

KUALA LUMPUR: Former president/chief executive officer of Bank Pertanian Malaysia Bhd (Agrobank), Datuk Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, has received the Islamic Retail Banking Leadership Award 2017 (IRBA) at the 3rd Islamic Retail Banking Awards in Dubai, last night.

In a statement today, IRBA chairman/founder Dr Humayon Dar said the award committee was impressed by Wan Mohd Fadzmi’s leadership in transforming Agrobank into a fully modern Islamic financial institution.

"He has been the driving force of Agrobank's transformation over the past six years, especially in strengthening the foundation and core business of the bank," he said.

The IRBA Leadership Award honours outstanding leaders who not only differentiate their institutions, but also champion the development of the Islamic banking sector.

Meanwhile, commenting on the award, Wan Mohd Fadzmi said, he believed that the essence of transformation for organisations like Agrobank was from souland from top management to all parts.

"A leader should focus on getting the best team for the strategic targets set for an organisation," he said.

Under the leadership of Wan Mohd Fadzmi, Agrobank's growth has increased by 16.9 per cent with total financing value reaching up to RM8.7 billion in 2016, which is also the best achievement for the bank.

He resigned on Aug 31, 2017 after six years leading Agrobank. — BERNAMA
