SGShop confident in reaching 500,000 Malaysian customers

 

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Singapore's base online shopping portal SGShop is confident to reach its target of 500,000 online purchaser from Malaysia subscribing to its online merchandise retailing service by year 2020.

The company which offer online retailing service of various types of products from China manufactured brand sellers ranging from clothings, electrical appliances, to premium goods has been in operation for the past six years in the online retailing industry and operates from its head office base in Singapore.

SGShop business founder Lai Xin of Sanli Group Pte. Ltd said although the business set up of the company is relatively young, the online retailing commerce is gaining momentum and has a promising outlook as there had been a significant rising trend of late in the Asian market where most Asian shoppers choosing to shop online instead of the conventional visit to merchant stores.

"Our market study in this online retailing business for the Asian market done recently showed Malaysia ranked among top three nations with higher number of online transaction activity aside from Singapore and Thailand," he said.

He said such trend has led its decision to expand its Malaysia operation which had been in operation since 2014 in Johor with the opening of its new operation office SGShop Malaysia in Medini 6 commercial zone at Medini Iskandar.

"During the start of the Malaysian operation three years ago we humbly starts at a small shoplot in Bukit Indah and the expansion to our new operation office in Malaysia at Medini Iskandar spelled a bright future for the company to boost its online shopping platform further," he said during the new office building launching ceremony held at Jen Hotel today.

He said the five year expansion plan with a commitment of RM10 million investment for SGShop Malaysia will serve to increase its Malaysian subscribers by tenfold from 53,000 subscriber this year to 500,000 subscriber by 2020.

He said their operation in Singapore also sees higher demand for top brandseller products from the United States and Korean which also among the retailed products sold via the SGShop online store.

Meanwhile SGShop Malaysia director Lua Cheong Hong said the challenges faced by the online retailing players is getting the trust from consumers on the excellent product delivery efficiency and quality assurance of the retailed merchandise listed in its SGShop online store.

"We hope our subcribers to online store service will increase as shoppers need only to view the products via SGShop internet website or from the mobile apps which is available in both Android and IOS operating system," he said.
