Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival 2024 aims to welcome over 500,000 visitors

PASIR GUDANG: The Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival (FLLSPG) 2024, a joint venture between the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG), Persatuan Pelayang Johor, and Majlis Pelayang Malaysia, aims to draw in 500,000 visitors over its extended nine-day schedule.

Scheduled from Feb 24 to Mar 3, the festival is poised to feature 135 international participants from 39 countries and over 400 local enthusiasts, Media Digital Johor reported on Jan 15.

This year's FLLSPG is unique as it extends over nine days, incorporating both a pre-festival (Gema Festival) and the main Kite Festival.

A highlight of FLLSPG 2024 is the "Stunt Kite" performance, an initiative to spark interest in kite flying among young people. This addition promises to bring a dynamic twist to the traditional art of kite flying.

Aligning with the MBPG's theme of "Dynamic Pasir Gudang," the festival's theme, "Dynamic Culture," will reflect a mix of tradition and modernity.

The event will host several activities, including kite and stunt kite competitions, along with performances by guest artists.

The FLLSPG has a storied history, having been held 26 times since 1995. According to Media Digital Johor, the 2024 edition marks a return to the international stage, following a national-level event in 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic hiatus.
