Khazanah announces key appointments

KUALA LUMPUR: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has announced the appointment of Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof as chairman of the Board Executive Committee (exco), effective December 5.

In a statement today, Khazanah said a streamlining of some of the human capital oversight functions of the exco and the Board Committee for Succession Management also saw the formation of a Board Nomination and Remuneration Committee (BNRC) to be chaired by Md Nor with immediate effect.

Khazanah also announced the appointment of Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn and Tengku Datuk Seri Azmil Zahruddin Raja Abdul Aziz as deputy managing directors, effective January 1, 2018.

Ahmad Zulqarnain, 45, is currently Khazanah’s investments executive director with coverage of its investments in Indonesia, Asean and the financial institutions group sector.

He is also head of the strategic management unit.

Tengku Azmil, 47, is currently Khazanah’s investments executive director with oversight of its investments in the innovation and technology sector, life sciences, and Africa, as well as oversight for Khazanah's offices in San Francisco and Khazanah Koridor Utara in Penang.

Khazanah also announced the appointment of Tan Sri Andrew Sheng, who has been a board member since July 2008, as Khazanah Research Institute chairman effective November 29.

Khazanah also announced the appointment of Yeo Kar Peng to its board, effective from December 5.

Yeo is currently the chairman/managing partner of Kendall Court Capital Partners and one of its founders.

She is also a board member of Cenviro Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah.

Overall, Khazanah said the new appointments supplement its ongoing institutionalisation efforts as it continues to move forward in delivering its mandate as the government's strategic investment fund.
