Shopee records 5-fold increase in orders to 2.5m within 24 hours on Shopee Birthday Sale

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 DEC 2017 - Shopee, an e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, recorded 2.5 million orders across the region within 24 hours on December 12, a five-fold increase compared to last year’s performance.

In Malaysia, more than 500,000 items were sold as shoppers snapped up massive promotions across six million products, as part of the Shopee Birthday Sale celebrations.

“The 12.12 Mega Deals, Shocking Sale flash deals, and Upsized Mall Highlights, that were pushed out as part of Shopee’s birthday celebration were all extremely well received.

|We are excited to have partnered leading brands including PETRONAS, Digi, Havaianas and MR. DIY to make this year’s Birthday Sale a success. These brands are among those who have chosen Shopee as their first e-commerce partner, and many of them enjoyed huge boost in their sales, with a spike of more than 100 times compared to average days,” said Ian Ho, Shopee’s regional managing director.

While 12.12 may be over, Shopee said users can still stand a chance to win a trip for two to Honolulu, Hawaii worth RM15,000 and an iPhone X worth RM5,500 as part of Shopee’s Birthday Sale giveaway that will continue till December 31.

To qualify, users will need to spend a minimum of RM100 and make payment via FPX online banking.

To prepare for the new school year ahead, Shopee will also be holding a Back-to-School campaign from December 18 to December 24 featuring promotions across a wide range of back-to-school items; including stationery, textbooks and accessories at attractive prices no higher than RM30.

Official Shops including Pilot, Stabilo, Nestle, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka and Borders will also be joining in this event by providing exclusive deals and vouchers for users.
