Maxis, Axiata & DiGi accept MCMC spectrum band offers

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd and Digi.Com Bhd have accepted the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) offer on the reissuance of their respective spectrum band, effective April 2, 2018.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Maxis said, its unit has accepted MCMC’s offer for the reissuance of its 2100 megahertz (MHz) Spectrum Assignment (SA).

The offer comprised 2 x 15MHz Frequency Division Duplex and 1 x 5MHz Time Division Duplex SA, with a validity of 16 years, it said.

Axiata Group Bhd’s wholly-owned unit, Celcom Axiata Bhd, has accepted MCMC’s offer on the reissuance of the existing SA in 1950MHz to 1965MHz and 2140 MHz to 2155MHz for 16 years, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

Digi, in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, said its wholly-owned unit, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd has accepted MCMC’s offer on the reissuance of its 2100MHz SA at 2x15MHz band, for a period of 16 years.

All three telecommunications companies paid the price component payment of RM118.4 million each and would be paying RM50 million in annual fees, payable before Dec 15 throughout the assignment period.
