Honda Malaysia invests RM11 million to expand parts warehouse

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has invested RM11 million for the Phase II expansion of the Parts Warehouse in Bukit Jelutong.

The Japanese marque said the expansion would further support the rising after-sales demand, in tandem with the increased sales and service intakes.

The expansion involved a storage capacity of the current warehouse to a total build up area of 21,700 sq m, supporting the parts requirements of the 93 Honda dealers in Malaysia.

Managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama said the parts warehouse expansion was not only increases storage space but also would improve warehousing operations, speed up delivery of parts to dealers and customers as well as accommodates the company’s future business growth.

“Honda Malaysia has recorded remarkable sales growth and service intakes in the last four years and this in turn has translated into an increasing demand for spare parts,” he said in a statement released today.

He added the expansion was timely as sales of spare parts have experienced a growth of 32 per cent while demand arising from body and paint activities rose by 48 per cent in 2017 against the 2016 records.

“With this expanded warehouse, we will be able to deliver parts in a timely manner to dealers, towards providing better customer service,” he said.

The Phase II expansion of the parts warehouse would see a restructuring of stock placement, locations within the warehouse and the optimisation of space to ramp up efficiency and capacity.

The company said the expansion includes placing fast moving and frequent pick-up items near outgoing area to reduce travel time during parts pick-up and minimise the movement of fork-lift to increase higher operation efficiency.

It said the storage operations would maximize available spaces, which were previously unutilised.
