BANGKOK: Low-cost carrier AirAsia chalked up another milestone when it celebrated its 500 million guest milestone today.

The 500 millionth guest, 34-year old Thai, Dr Panut Oprasertsawat took AirAsia over the half a billion mark when he flew from Phuket to Bangkok on March 18, 2018.

Oprasertsawat, who was rewarded with three million AirAsia Big Points and a vidi complementary voucher worth 50,000 baht (RM6,175), received a surprise upgrade to lifetime AirAsia free tickets for him and his wife.

“AirAsia is my preferred airline due to their high flight frequency, affordable price and excellent service.

“Over the past decade, I have been able to manage my business in Phuket and Bangkok due to easy air connectivity. I am truly excited to be part of this milestone,” he said, adding, the Maldives would be his first destination.

The reward was announced by the group’s chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes at the airline’s #HalfABillion Guests Flown Celebration here.
