CEP meeting ongoing despite Zeti leaving earlier

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bank Negara Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz have just left Menara Ilham, where a Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) meeting is being held.

Zeti, who was clad in her trademark blue baju kurung declined to comment on what was discussed during the meeting, when she was queried by reporters at around 3.30pm.

“I am leaving early as I have another meeting to attend. The Council are still up there discussing,” she said without further explanation.

Zeti is part of the five persons CEP led by former finance minister Tun Daim Daim Zainuddin.

Other members of the council are former Petroliam Nasional Bhd president and chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Hassan Merican, business tycoon Robert Kuok and economist Dr Jomo Kwame Sundaram.

Kuok had arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday from Hong Kong where he currently lives to attend today's CEP meeting.

The CEP have already met with Employees Provident Fund CEO Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan and Khazanah Nasional Bhd managing director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, earlier this morning.

Neither were available for comments.
