KUALA LUMPUR: Axiata Group Bhd’s unit, edotco Malaysia Sdn Bhd, has entered into a seven-year mobile infrastructure collaboration with Sunway Digital Wave Sdn Bhd to design, build and manage the telecommunications infrastructure for Sunway Digital Wave.
In a statement, edotco said the mobile telecommunication infrastructure will be deployed at Sunway Group’s integrated townships nationwide, including Sunway Group’s commercial buildings, medical centers, universities and shopping malls.
At the end-date in 2025, both parties have an option for a seven-year renewal until 2032.
A business unit of Sunway Technology Group, Sunway Digital Wave manages various telecommunication and information technology requirements for the Sunway Group.
The commercial developments of Sunway Geo, Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Putra and Sunway Velocity will be the first few sites to be fitted with the updated solutions.
It said other Sunway developments and townships will see similar installations in phases across seven years.
Among the innovative technologies that will be deployed are a network of antennas for in-building solutions (IBS), small cells, and multi-tenant BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) Hotels which will enable mobile operators to rapidly increase their capacity.
The telecommunications infrastructure will have camouflage elements that will help it integrate seamlessly into its surroundings.
Coverage will be improved as more devices can connect to the network at greater data speeds.
edotco group chief regional officer Wan Zainal Adileen said the collaboration marks another milestone for edotco in innovating the telecommunications industry with smart solutions.
