KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has appointed Ang Yoke Kee as group chief operating officer (strategy and transformation) and Muhammad Nizam Alias as group chief operating officer (operations).
In a statement today, Prasarana president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Mohamed Hazlan Mohamed Hussain said Ang and Nizam will help with the group's restructuring.
Hazlan, Ang and Nizam are the three-man executive team that had been appointed by the Ministry of Finance to undertake changes in the organisational structure and turnaround the asset owner and operator of public transport systems and services in major cities throughout Malaysia.
Hazlan said Prasarana would focus on three key areas – increasing the ridership of public transport services, enhancing the management and delivery of quality services, and improving the management of revenue and cost.
In the statement, Hazlan said Ang is a Masters degree holder in Financial Engineering from Carnegie Mellon – National Technological University.
Both Ang and Nizam expressed their aspirations in their new job postings.
Ang has extensive regional investment and consulting experience with Boston Consulting Group, Softbank and McKinsey to help transform and turnaround the company.
“It’s a tough journey ahead, but with the support and commitment from everyone, I’m confident that we will transform into a stronger and more resilient organisation that delivers quality public transport services to the people,” Ang said.
On the other hand, Muhammad Nizam, a graduate of Monash University who is currently pursuing his PhD in Islamic Finance with INCEIF, returns to Prasarana with the responsibility to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Nizam previously served as a general manager in the Prasarana Group MD’s office, after stints in the Renong Group and POS Malaysia.
“I have always had high regards for Prasarana and its mandate in providing public transport connectivity and mobility for the people. It is indeed a noble job and one that is an ‘ibadah’ for the ummah,” said Muhammad Nizam.
