Matrade sees good prospects at CAEXPO 2019 in Nanning

KUALA LUMPUR: The 16th China-Asean Exposition (CAEXPO), co-sponsored by the International Trade and Industry Ministry, the People’s Republic of China Ministry of Commerce and Asean business authorities as well as its secretariat, will be held in Nanning, China, from September 20 to 23.

At present, preparation work for the CAEXPO has been fully launched. From April 22 to 24, the Secretariat of the CAEXPO, together with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), are holding three promotion conferences in Penang, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur.

The Penang promotion conference was held at the EASTIN Hotel Penang today. For Sabah, it will be held tomorrow (April 23) at Banquet Hall A, Marriott Hotel and in Kuala Lumpur, it will be held at Perdana Hall, Level 6, West Wing, Menara Matrade on April 24.

All conferences are held from 9am to 12pm.

During this year's promotion conferences, the CAEXPO Secretariat will focus on the highlights and general ideas of the 16th China-Asean Exposition. It is understood that this CAEXPO, with the theme of "co-building The Belt and Road and jointly drawing the vision of cooperation", will work closely with all the organising parties of Asean and take effective measures to ensure the success of the 16th CAEXPO.

As one of the three major exhibitions supported by the Chinese government, Malaysia attaches great importance to the CAEXPO and has participated in the CAEXPO for 15 consecutive years.

Previously, at the 15th CAEXPO, 174 exhibition enterprises from Malaysia were present, and taking up 180 booths with total exhibition area of 3,240 square meters (sq m).

The total volume of transactions during the previous expo reached RM640 million, an increase of 58 per cent over the previous year and 10 memorandums of cooperation were signed, mainly involving logistics, e-commerce, catering, education and other fields.

In particular, about 2,800 meetings for one-to-one economic and trade matching were conducted in Malaysian Commodity Hall, including special matching meetings between Chinese cubilose purchasers and Malaysian cubilose enterprises.

A large number of food and health products enterprises successfully signed a large number of orders, and tourism and education service agencies also smoothly found regional agents in China.

This year, Malaysia will continue to use the D13 Pavilion, with an exhibition area estimated to exceed 3,200 sq m. At that time, Malaysia's superior commodities and services, in the fields of food and beverage, health and health care, green products, science and technology, lifestyle and fashion, education and franchising, will be displayed to Chinese and global buyers at the CAEXPO.

Malaysia's national promotion conference and other investment promotion activities will be held at the same time to strengthen bilateral friendly cooperation in investment, trade and multiple fields.
