KUALA LUMPUR: Sunny Food Lab Sdn Bhd (SFL), the manufacturer of Forbidden brand delectable confections, aims to produce its product range in Malaysia.
This will happen once the company fully developed the infrastructure and have a skilled workforce to handle and maintain the equipment used in the work process.
Forbidden product range, derived from durians sourced direct from plantations in Pahang, are currently produced in Taiwan.
SFL chief executive officer Damian Lee said once the local factory is established, employees will be trained to make Forbidden products the right way to maintain same standards without using artificial additives.
"The same standard operating procedure used in Taiwan will also be applied along the supply chain in Malaysia, ensuring the continuity of the 'farm to bakery' concept which preserves the quality of the ingredients.
"I believe Malaysia can brand itself to become the most important exporter of durians which will definitely help to boost our farmers in the long run.
"We want to be able to help our farmers to grow durians in a sustainable manner and friendly to the environment and to the people living around those communities," he said adding that SFL work together with its partner SunnyHills, a highly reputable pineapple brand from Taiwan, renowned for their farm to bakery concept.
He added farmers are properly incentivised to grow their crop employing good agriculture practises without the use of pesticides.
Damian said the brand also aims to inspire others to join the cause to create more recipes, working directly with farms, whereby proceeds are then reinvested back into the land.
"Hence, helping farmers to generate their income and boost our agriculture industry," he said.
Economies of scale and going international is very important and the more volume reaped the bigger the impact will be on the industry.
“So, creating a sophisticated brand for durian products, and a brand at an international level is something Forbidden aims to do with our durian products”, Damian said.
