#Showbiz: Awal withdraws from coffee house, plans to sue business partner

KUALA LUMPUR: Television host and actor Awal Ashaari has withdrawn from his five-month-old coffee house business in Shah Alam and plans to take legal action against his business partner for impropriety.

Awal said in an interview with Harian Metro yesterday that he was deeply disappointed and angered by his business partner's "dishonesty" in running the joint venture business which began as a result of his love of coffee.

"I'm planning to take legal action against this business partner in order to get back what is due to me from our partnership that has gone sour," he said adding that the coffee house had been closed for more than a month now.

Awal also said that his business partner had failed to act responsibly in running the coffee house "all this while" and he could no longer resolve their differences behind closed doors.

"Both parties are communicating via our lawyers now. I hope for the best," said Awal, adding that he was shocked to learn from some fans that the coffee house had closed down.

"I admit I was naive and too trusting when it came to business, but I am now determined to get back all payments that are due to me."

It was reported last year that Awal has opened the coffee house in Section 13, Shah Alam specially to celebrate his love of coffee.

Awal, 42, chose Shah Alam for the coffee house as it had many universities and colleges, and students enjoyed hanging out and doing their coursework in coffee houses.
