TNB appoints chief international officer

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has appointed Shahazwan Harris as its chief international officer to lead International Asset Group (IAG).

IAG is a new division in TNB that will deliver new growth prospects from its s overseas ventures.

The appointment will take effect from July 1.

TNB president and chief executive officer Amir Hamzah Azizan said Shahazwan’s involvement in various sectors, such as energy, telecommunications, technology, utility, aviation, sustainable development, oil and gas and healthcare, would be of value to the group’s long-term strategy to become a Top 10 Global Utility by 2025.

“The management of TNB is confident that the knowledge, experience and exposure gained by Shahazwan over the years will steer IAG’s business growth forward,” he said in a statement.

Shahazwan is currently the chief strategy and transformation officer of Bursa Malaysia-listed UEM Edgenta Bhd.

He has about 23 years of experience in investments, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio and asset management, as well as corporate strategy and restructuring.

A TNB scholar, Shahazwan joined TNB in 1996 for four years.

Thereafter, he worked at PA Consulting Group, Boston Consulting Group and Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

Throughout his career at Khazanah, from 2005 to 2016, Shahazwan had worked across Asia and Europe.

Post-Khazanah, he sat on the board of Cenviro, Opus International Consultants Ltd listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange and UEM Edgenta Bhd.

He had also assumed advisory roles in Bain & Co and Temasek International (on Sustainability and Impact Investing).

Currently, Shahazwan sits on the board of UMW Holdings Bhd and is an advisory committee member of StashAway, a robo-advisory platform in Singapore and Malaysia.
