Fairview to offer its graduates teaching jobs

KUALA LUMPUR: University College Fairview (UCF), Southeast Asia’s sole international teaching college, plans to offer teaching jobs for those who sit for its Bachelor in Education programme, Dr Vincent Chian said.

Chian is a director of Fairview Education Group, which in turn owns UCF as well as Fairview International School (FIS).

FIS has the largest network of IB (International Baccalaureate) World Schools in Malaysia, with campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Subang, Johor Bahru and Penang.

As at June this year, there are 5,088 IB world schools spread across some 156 countries.

“We have also recently opened a school in Scotland and are in the process of expanding to Indonesia. Therefore, we are in a position to absorb teachers trained by UCF,” said Chian.

He added that UCF had all the required approval from the Malaysia’s education ministry to roll out the bachelor’s programme.

“On top of that, we are also offering full scholarships to eligible candidates who are keen to pursue the bachelor’s degree at UCF. We understand that the economy is tight, hence our scholarship and job offers for those who are keen to pursue a career in teaching, especially within the private sector,” said Chian.

This will be the only undergraduate programme which specialises in IB education, hence candidates chosen to be absorbed into FIS teaching force will also benefit in terms of being able to obtain IBO teaching certificate award. This is through its post graduate diploma in education, which will allow them to teach at any IB school in the world.

IB teachers are much sought after as they are able to lead classrooms where students draw on skills, information and imagination to approach different situations with the expectation of success.

IB teachers are resourceful, determined and skilled to step outside the standard textbooxt lessons.
