JCorp's Newave allocates RM20m for digital healthcare business

CYBERJAYA: NewWave Health Sdn Bhd (NHSB) has set plans to spend RM20 million to expand its digital healthcare business over the period of two to three years to expand the reach of Newave’s digital health application, LifeMed.

"With this investment, we expect LifeMed’s usage to be expanded through KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s private hospital network in Malaysia within a couple of years before branching out this service to public hospitals,” N2W Corporation Sdn Bhd (NCSB) chief executive officer Rizatuddin Ramli told reporters after the launch of LifeMed and the signing of partnership agreements between N2W and Smartmed, here, today.

NHSB is a joint venture company between Johor Corporation’s (JCorp) subsidiary, NCSB and Smartmed Global Ltd (SGL) while Smartmed is a UK-based digital healthcare service provider. KPJ is owned by JCorp.

JCorp, through its subsidiary, NCSB, has announced a strategic partnership with SGL – a UK based digital healthcare service provider, to launch LifeMed, an all in one digital app to better connect patients with medical solutions.

The LifeMed solution is a concept of Remote Health Diagnostics and Monitoring System (RHDMS), a solution that enable patients to better manage their ailments and clinicians to better monitor their patients’ conditions.

The solution is seen as the evolution of the future for the healthcare industry particularly in the digital healthcare.

Rizatuddin said NHSB has a long-term expansion plan to expand LifeMed's business operations and looking to expand the service overseas.

"In two years’ time, we will be using the KPJ network to grow not only Malaysia but also several countries which KPJ has presence in including Indonesia, Bangladesh and Australia,” he said.

JCorp president and chief executive Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim said the group had today achieve a significant milestone in enabling the most comprehensive access to health-related information available, right from the convenience of a mobile device.

“This initiative aims to add value to all healthcare providers – with the ability to monitor their patients round the clock. With the technology LifeMed solution offers, it also helps to engage and empower patients in monitoring and managing their won conditions, while keeping them closely engaged with the doctors for support if needed.

“LifeMed is especially useful to frequent travellers who can still capture their health readings, wherever they may be. Both doctors and the patient are able to access patient medical records or vital readings globally and 24/7,” he said.
