KUALA LUMPUR: Advancecon Holdings Bhd has bagged two contracts worth a total of RM50.5 million, comprising a RM38.7 million contract for Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) in Sarawak and a RM11.8 million works contract for Sime Darby in Negeri Sembilan.
Group chief executive officer Datuk Phum Ang Kia said Advancecon has now secured three new contracts in the span of a week, bringing the group’s total new wins to about RM200 million year-to-date.
“With Sarawak being identified as a promising growth area, we have accumulated a fleet of machinery from ongoing projects which enables the timely commencement of new projects when required,” he said in a statement.
Moreover, managing two different roadworks projects in the same area allows for the proper planning of resources to achieve optimal efficiency and could eventually boost the firm’s credentials in East Malaysia, he added.
The firm said the contract awarded by URDA encompasses earthworks and ancillaries works for a proposed new road by Sungai Bena (Phase 1) and entails the undertaking of soil investigation works, geotechnical works, environmental protection and enhancement, traffic management and control, demolition and site clearance, earthworks, drainage works, road and pavings, as well as bridge works.
The contract will be for a duration of 23.5 months, it added.
“This is Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd’s second letter of award from Advancecon (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, whose client is the Regional Corridor Development Authority,” Advancecon said.
The previously secured contract under the URDA was worth RM49.4 million for similar works in Pelagus/Baleh.
Advancecon said it also obtained a Letter of Award from Sime Darby to carry out earthworks and ancillary works for the SME Business Park development in Negeri Sembilan.
It said the scope of works specified in this contract awarded by Sime Darby includes the proposed construction and completion of earthworks, ESCP, main drain, retaining wall and other ancillary works.
The contract will be fulfilled over a period of 12 months.
