Affin Hwang launches new fund for investors to capture shariah-compliant multi-asset thematic opportunities

KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Hwang Asset Management Bhd (Affin Hwang AM) has launched the Affin Hwang Aiiman Global Thematic Mixed Asset Fund to expand its thematic offerings.

Chief marketing and distribution officer Chan Ai Mei said the newly launched fund is designed to solve a quandary for investors who want to capture the potential of thematic opportunities while managing downside risks in their portfolios.

Chan said that through a flexible asset allocation strategy, the fund scours the best ideas across multiple themes and asset classes to deliver a smoother return path for investors and combat the volatile times.

"By not being bound to any geographical or sector limits, the new fund can dynamically allocate between different key megatrends.

"This includes technological innovation, sustainability, and changing demographics and lifestyles that will transform the way the world works," she said.

Affin Hwang Aiiman Global Thematic Mixed Asset Fund is a Shariah-compliant retail fund that provides investors access to thematic opportunities through a multi-asset approach, including global equities and sukuk.

To achieve its investment objective, Affin Hwang AM said the fund would invest a minimum of 30 per cent and a maximum of 80 per cent of its net asset value (NAV) in Shariah-compliant equities, as well as a minimum of 20 per cent and a maximum of 60 per cent of its NAV in sukuk.

"The fund has the flexibility to invest a maximum of 20 per cent of its NAV in Islamic deposits and Islamic money market instruments.

"It also has the flexibility to invest 15 per cent of the fund's NAV in Shariah-compliant warrants and an allowance to participate with a maximum of 10 per cent of its NAV in Islamic structured products," it said.

The fund is also managed externally by Affin Hwang AM's wholly-owned Islamic fund management arm, AIIMAN Asset Management. The fund also benefits from the combined expertise of Schroders Investment Management, which acts as its Investment Advisor.

The fund is suitable for retail investors who seek moderate capital growth and have a medium-to-long-term investment horizon.
