HSS Engineers to undertake feasibility study to upgrade Johor water treatment system

KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd has been appointed by Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) for a proposed study and construction of Johor water treatment plant and systems upgrade.

The engineering and project management consultant said its associate SMHB Sdn Bhd had accepted a letter of appointment (LoA) to provide engineering services for PAAB's proposed project in Batu Pahat.

SMHB will begin the 72-month contract in September for a total RM11.6 million.

"This will lead to the contract contributing positively to group revenue from the financial year ending December 31, 2022 (FY22) onwards," it said.

Pursuant to the exclusive teaming arrangement between SMHB and HSS Engineers's subsidiary SMHB Engineering Sdn Bhd, both companies will collaborate exclusively to execute and complete the scope of works.

HSS Engineers executive vice chairman Tan Sri Ir. Kuna Sittampalam said the appointment allowed the company to extend its engineering expertise to conscientiously establish a new water treatment plant and develop an upgrade plan.

Kuna said the company was reinforcing its portfolio in the urban transport sector as demonstrated in the recent project management consultancy undertaking for the MRT Circle Line.

"We remain steadfast in building Malaysia's key infrastructure, hence ably supporting Malaysia's high-growth ambition in the coming years," he said.

The LoA with PAAB brings the company's current orderbook to RM1.5 billion to be recognised in the next five to eight years.
