Duopharma to distribute anti-hair loss products from South Korea

KUALA LUMPUR: Duopharma Biotech Bhd, via wholly-owned Duopharma Consumer Healthcare Sdn Bhd, has signed a product distribution agreement with South Korea-based stem cell technology company SCM Lifescience Inc to distribute a range of anti-hair loss products in Malaysia.

Iroro brand is a halal-certified anti-hair loss products that uses stem cell technology as its active ingredient to create a halal range that caters to the Malaysian market.

The product range to be distributed by Duopharma Consumer comprises the brand's Nutreatment Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo for Men, Nutreatment Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo for Women, Nutreatment Anti-Hair Loss Treatment and Nutreatment Anti-Hair Loss Serum.

Duopharma Biotech group managing director Leonard Ariff Abdul Shatar said the agreement enabled the company to expand its entry into the cosmoceutical segment in the country.

"Following Duopharma Biotech's 2.73 per cent investment into SCM Lifescience, we are committed to optimise their findings - particularly in stem cell research, to elevate our consumer product offerings, enabling us to have a unique advantage in the market," he said in a statement.

The company is also collaborating with SCM Lifescience to develop atopic dermatitis stem cell therapy.

"Through the introduction of the Iroro range, we are laying the groundwork for this product segment ahead of a potential launch of products to treat atopic dermatitis," he added.

The company claimed that the stem cell used in Iroro would be able to promote hair growth as well as scalp improvement.

SCM Lifescience chief executive officer Dr Byong Kwan said there were many different factors across markets that can lead to hair loss issues in an individual.

"We are confident in the efficacy of the Iroro range and excited to see the brand helping  Malaysians overcome the impact of hair loss.

"We foresee that this product range will be the first among other products made available to Malaysians through our research and development collaboration with Duopharma Consumer," he added.

The Iroro product range will be available to consumers through e-commerce platforms in Malaysia in the first quarter of next year.
