CSH Alliance advances in EV space

KUALA LUMPUR: CSH Alliance Bhd (CAB) is on course in its venture into the electric vehicles (EV) industry in tandem with the company's goal of electrifying the future.

Executive director Jeff Chong said the company has been working closely with Malaysia's authorities board, such as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

"We have successfully obtained the manufacturing license for the assembly of a commercial electronic van, including model approval for local assembly of a commercial electric van, primarily the BYD T3 electric van.

"Our next milestone is to bring the complete-built-up (CBU) vans for the commercial sector into Malaysia, which will benefit the commercial industry, mainly the logistics and transportation sector, in lowering their carbon emissions.

"Together, we will be able to reduce Malaysia's carbon footprint and develop a more sustainable environment for our future generation," he said in a statement today.

In December 2021, CAB formed a wholly-owned subsidiary, Alliance EV Sdn Bhd (AEV), to venture into the EV market, primarily in commercial EVs.

The venture was made possible through a memorandum of understanding signed between the company and BYD Malaysian Sdn Bhd (BYD Malaysia).

A subsequent letter from BYD Malaysia outlined both parties' intention to work together in the business of distributing the BYD T3 commercial electric van model and setting up a local assembly plant for the model.

BYD Malaysia is the Malaysian arm of BYD Company Ltd, a global leader in four major industries, namely electronics, auto, new energy and rail transit.

The company is also a pioneer in achieving a zero-emission energy ecosystem with affordable solar power, reliable energy storage and electrified transportation.

CAB has acquired 55 acres of land in Tanjung Malim, Perak, which is intended for the local EV assembly plant.

The strategic location resides within the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV), which will house the biggest automotive manufacturing plant in Malaysia with comprehensive supply chain companies around the area.

AHTV is expected to be a high-impact major project to boost the national automotive industry and is envisioned as an automotive industry hub for the ASEAN region.
