Nescafe launches campaign for sustainable coffee ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR: Nescafe will embark on a new campaign named 'Nescafe Make Your World' to spotlight cultivating a sustainable coffee ecosystem with respect for farming communities and the planet.

Celebrating its 85-year legacy in conjunction with International Coffee Month, Nescafe will uphold the supply chain by supporting the adoption of regenerative agriculture to help conserve and restore farmland and its ecosystems.

To date, 125,000 farmers training on regenerative agriculture has been conducted, reaching 31,000 women and 21,000 youths worldwide.

Additionally, 1.4 million trees have been planted in and around coffee farms to capture and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Nestlé (Malaysia) Bhd business executive officer for coffee Raef Labaki said that through the 'Make Your World' campaign, the company hopes to inspire consumers to join on this journey to improve the world.

"In Malaysia, our commitment to a green coffee supply chain is reflected in our high-quality products made with care using 99 per cent responsibly sourced coffee beans," he said.

The brand created the first Malaysian classic kopi kedah made with Robusta coffee beans grown through the Nescafe Grown Respectfully Programme (NGR), which involves collaborating with local communities to ensure a stable supply of raw ingredients.

First launched in Kedah in 2019, the programme has uplifted the lives and livelihoods of local coffee farmers.
