Pos Malaysia opens second convenience store to widen revenue base

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd has unveiled its second convenience store in a move to generate new sources of income beyond relying solely on traditional operation.

The second Pos Shop is located in the vibrant Brickfields community here today.

Pos Malaysia chief transformation and digital officer Sumesh Rahavendra said the company had opened the first Pos Shop branch in Medan Tuanku here.

It plans to open nine more Pos Shop in Pahang, Selangor, Johor and Melaka by year-end. By 2024, 50 Pos Shop branches are expected to be opened nationwide.

"With the introduction of Pos Kafe within Pos Shop, customers will now be able to enjoy freshly prepared food and beverage daily, providing a convenient grab-and-go meal option amid their busy schedules," he said after the launch of Pos Shop here today.

Elaborating further, he said the decision to open Pos Shop is to ensure that Pos Malaysia remains relevant while fully utilising its existing assets throughout the country.

He said the company has more than 630 post offices nationwide, and the future Pos Shop openings will also be in post office locations.

"We expect Pos Shop to contribute a double-digit income to the group," he added.
