Entertainment outlet hit by molotov cocktails, catches fire

KUALA LUMPUR: An entertainment outlet on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng caught fire after allegedly being hit with molotov cocktails yesterday (May 9).

A 45-second closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording near the premises went viral on social media .

The clip shows four men riding two motorcycles stopping in front of the premises and throwing two molotov cocktails before fleeing.

Another 42-second viral video shows the premises on fire with members of the public helping to extinguish the fire.

Based on the date and time indicated on the recording, the incident occurred at 2.18am on May 9.

Meanwhile, Dang Wangi deputy police chief Superintendent Nazron Abd Yusof, when contacted, confirmed that his department received a report.

"We have received a report regarding the incident and opened an investigation paper under Section 435 of the Penal Code for the offence of mischief by fire.

"Further investigation into this case is ongoing. Based on the CCTV footage, the incident occurred at 2.18am, but the actual time of the incident is still being investigated," he said.
