Censof wins JPJ contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Censof Holdings Bhd's subsidiary Century Software (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has secured a contract worth RM9.5 million from the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ).

In a statement, Censof said the contract entails a project that includes back-end maintenance, verification, and calibration services for 48 weighing instruments at JPJ's enforcement stations.

These weighing instruments are utilised by JPJ to measure automobile loads particularly heavy vehicles to ensure compliance with the laws governing permitted weight limits gazetted by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia.

The contract is for am36 months, commencing from Jan 1, 2024 to Dec 31, 2026.

Censof group managing director Ameer Shaik Mydin said traffic congestion has been increasing rapidly, especially since the easing of the Covid-19 related restrictions, partly due to overloaded heavy commercial vehicles entering the city centre during peak mornings and evening hours.

He added that these commercial vehicles with a laden weight exceeding 7,500 kg are generally prohibited from entering the city centre during peak hours.

"With today's back-end digital technology capabilities, the evaluation and logging of vehicles during inspection will not only be streamlined but enhanced further for efficiency and accuracy.

"Censof is proud to be part of the safety enforcement of the roads here in Malaysia in light of the accidents and traffic congestions caused by heavy vehicles exceeding weight limits on the road," he noted.
