MKM Travel signs GSA with TransNusa

KUALA LUMPUR: MKM Ticketing, Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd (MKM Travel) has expanded its service offerings to encompass sales and marketing for PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri through a General Sales Agreement (GSA).

The company's strategic director, Abdul Hadi Abdul Raman said that the agreement enables MKM Travel to act not only as TransNusa's ticketing and sales agent but also as its brand and reputation custodian in the Malaysian market.

"We are pleased to have been able to secure a unique GSA agreement with TransNusa and hope that we will be able to have a long and lasting relationship with the trend-setting Indonesian-based airline," Abdul Hadi said.

"A GSA normally just sells airline tickets. However, our agreement with TransNusa also encompasses marketing, branding, and customer management activities," he said.

Established in 2005, TransNusa started its operation by providing chartered flights. It began its commercial flights in 2011. After ceasing operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, TransNusa relaunched itself in 2021 as a low-cost airline in its domestic market.

In 2023, TransNusa introduced a new business model making it the first Premium Service Airline in Southeast Asia with the quickest rate of growth recently.

This year, in the course of eight months, the airline has added four additional overseas destinations.

TransNusa Group's chief executive officer Datuk Bernard Francis said that it wanted to bolster and expand its market share in Malaysia by opening a GSA operations office here.

"We were looking to partner with a company that had a strong local network, extensive tour and travel experience, as well as being customer-centric. MKM Travel had all these traits," he said.

He added that MKM Travel would offer comprehensive assistance to TransNusa travelers in addition to promoting, marketing, and selling TransNusa tickets.

The official launch of the MKM TransNusa office took place on Sunday at Arena Bintang in Shah Alam. MKM Travel is a tour and travel agency that holds a valid licence.

Also present at the event were TransNusa Group chief executive officer Datuk Bernard Francis, MKM Travel chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Khairi Mat Jahya, and MKM Travel chief executive officer Humaidi Mat Jahya.
