EVD Bhd's temporarily relieves executive director from operation duties

KUALA LUMPUR: EVD Bhd has temporarily relieved its executive director Mah Seong Huak from his operational duties as an employee of the company effective Jan 11, 2024.

Mah oversaw the day-to-day executive management functions in project management and engineering, project tender and budget, project system engineering and business development.

EVD did not state a reason for the action, in its filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.

On the same day however, the company announced a few litigations against subsidiary EVD Engineering Sdn Bhd.

EVD was served with three winding up petitions for a suit arising from Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 claims by sub-contractors totalling RM1.59 million.

"The board is currently investigating, sourcing, retrieving the relevant documents in respect of the suit (documents) and will make further announcement to Bursa Securities after procuring such documents," the company said in its announcement.

It also announced that the Kuala Lumpur Session Court awarded a  Judgement in Default of Appearance for RM600,291.85 as claimed by North Line Sdn Bhd against EVD.

"As the board was not provided with full details of the abovementioned litigations prior to the meeting held on Jan 10, 2024 to make a timely announcement, the directors decided to release the aforesaid information for the interim period pending the outcome of the internal enquiries, investigation, settlement with sub-contractors as well as further engagement with the company's solicitors," EVD said.
