KLIA Terminal 1 welcomes Air Macau

SEPANG: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 has welcomed the arrival of Air Macau to its long list of foreign carriers that operate out of the terminal.

Air Macau Vice President, flight operations, Captain Du GuoFu said the resumption of the Macau - Kuala Lumpur flight after 20 years marks a renewed connection between the two cities.

"Having flown to Kuala Lumpur previously, Air Macau is thrilled to strengthen ties with this vibrant city."

"This achievement is a collective effort. It's made possible with the support of the Malaysian aviation industry authority, the airport management company, Tourism Malaysia, Macau SAR Government and various organisations," he said at the welcoming reception of Air Macau's inaugural flight to Malaysia.

Captain Du also said the airline is open to fly to other domestic airports in Malaysia as well as increasing its flight frequency to daily flights.

Currently, Air Macau operates four times weekly flight on its Airbus A320 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Macau International Airport to KLIA Terminal 1.

Air Macau is a full service airline in Macau with narrow-body fleet of Airbus A320 and A2321.

The carrier is one of the subsidiary airlines of Air China, which also includes Shenzhen Airlines, Shangdong Airlines, Dalian Air, Inner Mongolia Airlines and Beijing Airlines.

Tourism Malaysia director general Datuk Dr. Ammar Abd Ghapar said the agency is targeting 24 million international arrivals in 2024 from 19 million last year.

"But we will see how it goes. We have more international flights coming in. Definitely we'll have to review our target to see our target number in 2024," he said.

Ammar also said Tourism Malaysia is in discussion with other foreign carriers to fly to Kuala Lumpur and other domestic airports to introduce new routes, increase flight frequencies and have more charter flights.

Air Macau has also appointed Pacific World Travel Sdn Bhd (PWT) as its dedicated general sales agent (GSA) in Malaysia.

PWT group President Tunku Dato Seri Dr. Iskandar Tunku Abdullah said the strategic partnership with the company solidifies Air Macau's commitment to provide unparalleled travel experiences and seamless connectivity for Malaysian travellers flying to Macau.
