Selangor saw RM41.55bil worth of investments between Jan and Sep 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor witnessed a substantial influx of investments totaling RM41.55 billion, in the period spanning from January to September 2023.

Selangor's Investment, Trade, and Mobility Exco Ng Sze Han emphasised the pivotal role played by the electrical and electronic (E&E) sector, which contributed a noteworthy RM9.75 billion to the overall investment inflow.

This was followed by fabricated metal products with RM2.65 billion, plastic products with RM1.18 billion, machinery and equipment with RM865 million, and food manufacturing with RM667 million.

Ng said within the services sector, real estate emerged as the primary contributor, accounting for a substantial RM13.48 billion.

"This was closely followed by information and communications, which contributed RM5.41 billion, and utilities, which added RM1.9 billion to the investment inflow," he added.

Last year, the Selangor government established a target of RM45 billion in investments.

"As of September, the region has already achieved RM41.55 billion, leaving a gap of RM3.45 billion to reach the set target.

"With three months remaining, October, November, and December, we are confident that it will hit the goal, Ng said.

He was speaking at a press conference on the state-level Chinese New Year celebration, happening on Feb 24 at IOI City Mall, Sepang, which will be jointly hosted by Invest Selangor Bhd and the Selangor state government.

The celebration hopes to foster closer ties between leaders and the community, particularly in Selangor State, while nurturing mutual understanding.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will attend the gathering along with the members of the state assembly, heads of departments, and representatives of foreign embassies.
