Boustead's MHS Aviation, Westair Helicopters sign 7-year lease to start offshore helicopter ops in Namibia

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Holdings Bhd subsidiary, MHS Aviation Bhd (MHS), and Westair Helicopters has signed a seven-year leasing agreement to bolster offshore helicopter operations in Namibia, Africa.

Under this arrangement, Westair will lease oil & gas (O&G) configured Airbus H175 to start offshore flights in the African Region starting August 2024.

The company stated the collaboration signified a major step forward in offshore O&G operational excellence and sustainability.

"Integrating the Airbus H175 into the Namibian operations signifies MHS's strategic expansion and our pledge to eco- efficiency and innovative service. "The fleet represents the future of offshore operations, and we are  proud to introduce it to the African market alongside Westair," said MHS chief executive officer (CEO) Mohd Fakhrul Arifin Adinan in a statement.

The Airbus H175 helicopter is certified to fly with sustainable aviation fuel, underscoring the shared commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

The Airbus H175 helicopter boasts increased flight safety, enhanced passenger comfort, greater versatility, that is set to redefine the standards of offshore helicopter operations.

Mohd Fakhrul  added MHS will continue to expand its  business footprints beyond Malaysia.

Westair CEO Edwin Soeters highlighted the collaboration of both parties introduced newoperational capabilities and solidifies the company's commitment to sustainability and excellence in service.
