KUALA LUMPUR: Wasiyyah Shoppe Bhd, the largest trust company in the retail segment of preparation and execution of hibah document, wills, matrimonial property and trust, has obtained its first hibah validation order from the Johore Shariah Court.
It was facilitated through its mobile application, Usra Hibah Digital Document (UsraHDD), on March 31.
UsraHDD was launched in March 2023 and was the first of its kind digital hibah mobile application system fully developed internally by Wasiyyah Shoppe.
Through the system, donor and donee of the hibah can execute their hibah aqad digitally at realtime basis through their handphone from any location in the world.
Hibah document that has been perfectly executed will be saved in a designated cloud system and can be retrieved anytime by the donor and donee as needed.
Wasiyyah Shoppe chief executive officer Ariffin Sabirin said the mobile apps is fully developed by its local internal technologist and the first of its kind in the world.
"We did not modify it from any other system as such hibah system does not exist today," he said in a statement.
Ariffin added that since Covid-19 pandemic and enforcement of Movement Control Order (MCO) that restrained physical movement, Wasiyyah Shoppe has explored multiple technologies to assist its clients to execute their hibah aqad without physically presence.
He noted that traditionally a hibah document need to be signed physically on a paper document.
According to Ariffin, donor, donee and witnesses need to attend the hibah aqad ceremony to sign and attest it.
However, he mentioned that the method is time-consuming, cumbersome, and costly, and it is not feasible during the enforcement of the MCO.
To overcome the constraint of physical movement, Wasiyyah Shoppe had introduced the method of hibah via tele-video and has since obtained its hibah validation order from the Shariah Court of Selangor on July 27, 2023.
"Although we have succeeded in overcoming the physical presence constraint, we found that the method is still inefficient and time-consuming, as internet line disruptions will cause the hibah aqad process to be interrupted and the process will have to be repeated.
"Hence, we continue to innovate in search of better solutions and after two years of hardwork, we manage to develop and introduce the UsraHDD mobile application," he said.
Following the first hibah validation order from the Johor Shariah Court, Wasiyyah Shoppe has emerged as the only trust company in Malaysia that offers hibah services via the traditional method of preparing physical documents that need to be signed, the tele-video method and the digital document via UsraHDD.
Ariffin said the achievement opens a great opportunity for the company to explore market cooperation with financial institutions both domestic and international as well as strengthening its position as the market leader in Islamic inheritance industry.
Wasiyyah Shoppe expects around 20,000 newly-acquired clients to use UsraHDD mobile application.
