MCVE: Spotlight on connected mobility

THE Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) is back this year, showcasing leading products and services as well as the latest innovations in the commercial vehicle industry.

Themed “Connected Mobility”, the biennial expo is Southeast Asia’s largest commercial vehicle exhibition and will be held at the Mines International Exhibition Centre in Seri Kembangan.

The host of exhibitors will have their own spin on efficient transportation and the future.

Stefan Pertz, Asian Trucker & Asian Buses editor and organiser of MCVE 2017, said during the launch: “The expo will be more than just an exhibition of products. There will be various opportunities to share, learn and network throughout the event. We are expecting that bus captains and truckers among the attendees will hopefully make new connections and exchange thoughts and best practices with fellow drivers.”

Since the expo’s debut in 2013, it has successfully attracted strong participation from both local and international exhibitors.

Previously named Malaysia International Bus, Truck and Components Expo, this year’s MCVE, which occupies 8,000 sq m of space, sees renewed participation by past exhibitors in addition to newcomers.

Following a 23 per cent jump in number of trade visitors at the 2015 expo, MCVE 2017 is expected to attract 7,000 visitors this year.

“Behind these doors, you will find exhibitors ready to launch new products. A number of them are utilising MCVE as a launchpad for their innovations.

“We are humbled by the fact that our partners are seeing this event as the best venue to reach their clients,” said Pertz.

Other activities arranged for MCVE 2017 includes highway rest stop-themed discussion areas, complete with food trucks, and a chance to take part in the Scania Driver Competition MCVE Edition; which allows anyone with a standard car driver’s licence to experience the challenging environment that truck and bus drivers face every day.

Present during the launch were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi, Swedish ambassador to Malaysia Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt and Mats Nilsson, the managing director of Volvo Malaysia.

Together with Stefan Pertz, they arrived at the venue in a feeder bus used for the recently-launched Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line.

The bus is a vital link that connects homes to train stations, work places and other locations; an embodiment of the theme chosen for this year: Connected Mobility.
